Our Story

In the early 20th century, Jean-Baptiste Lancelot, head winemaker for the Mumm house in Cramant, and Léon Royer, a basket weaver in the village of Oger, began cultivating vines.

Both these fathers passed on their passion for viticulture to their sons, Jean Lancelot and Raoul Royer, unaware that their efforts would be united by their grandchildren.

Jean Lancelot, who was also a distiller in the 1930s, and Raoul Royer decided to cultivate the vineyards they inherited from their fathers. Raoul Royer was a member of the Les Grappes d’Or cooperative in Oger.

After World War II, Jean Lancelot purchased the family's 1^st press and marketed his first bottles. The family's passion for Champagne was born…

Pierre Lancelot, son of Jean, and his wife Françoise Royer, daughter of Raoul, founded a house guided by their vision for the Champagnes of the Côte des Blancs.

They combined the vineyards they inherited from their parents and built the facilities necessary for their production around their house. This marked the birth of Champagne P. Lancelot-Royer.

When Sylvie, Pierre's daughter, and her husband Michel took over the estate in 1996, they established a commitment to continue the existing work, expand the range, and develop wine tourism.

They also modernized their production equipment, including a press and a labelling and packaging facility, and expanded the cellar carved into the chalk to increase storage capacity.

Since 2023, a new chapter is being written with the arrival at the estate of Édouard, grandson of the founder, and his wife Marie.

They are committed to perpetuating the family tradition by producing a high-quality Champagne, faithful to the house's identity. They also wish to continue their wine tourism activities by providing their clients with an increasingly comfortable discovery and tasting experience.
